1986 YELLOW MINIKIN

A very rare find for sure. Only 17 Minikins were produced. 
Only 5 or 6 are known of today.

As you can see in the photos the convertible top is in great shape and it comes with the side curtains. Easy to remove and easy to put up/on.

This Minikin has a Kohler 18hp V-Twin.
New carb, new air filter, new air filter cover, new fuel pump, new gas filter, new gas lines, new gas tank. 

Front brake cylinders recently replaced. 
New driver clutch and belt installed in 2025. Also comes with the factory tow bar and a rare Minikin dealer sign. I will post photos of both of these at a later date.

This Minkin was last driven in September 2025. It currently has just over 2500 miles.

This blue Freeway that I have posted might very well be the rarest, most unique, one of a kind, quirky and amazing Freeways with a great story.

So what do I have to support what I just said? Here we go in no particular order.

Since HMV went out of business in 1982 you would assume if you had a 1982 Freeway with a later VIN# that you had one of the last production Freeways, right? Well this Freeway might be the only 1986, that is correct a 1986 Freeway. This Freeway was sold by D&A well after HMV went out of business.

Also add being one of only a few blue ones adds to the list.

It started its life as an electric Freeway and was converted into a gas powered Freeway. The story I got was the Jerry, a former HMV employee, helped the owner with the conversion and as you see in the photos it turned out great.

This Freeway has just over 750 miles on it. I believe these to be actual miles.

In the 2009 Freeway reunion that I organized and held in IL this Freeway was driven in the road rally by an Edmonson family member.

It is powered by the 16hp Tecumseh with easy access see photo of access to engine. 

Dash has volt gauge, engine oil temp gauge, speedo, quick access to fuses the choke cable control, horn button and a very unique engine kill switch.

Gas tank, in photo, is in the back under carpet. Looks to be an outboard motor tank or one similar and has a fuel shut off see photo. 

Lights all work, brake lights, headlight, turn signals, running lights. 

Has a radio antenna but no radio????

It has unique side windows that are velcro attached and makes it very easy to get good airflow into this Freeway.

This Freeway by no means is perfect but much different than any other Freeway that I know of.

The clear title is in previous owner's name.

Last driven June 2025.

Recent maintenance (june 2025): fresh oil, greased fittings, brakes adjusted and a new battery was installed late 2024.

I would strongly suggest that whoever ends up with this rare, unique, quirky Freeway to take the time and go thru everything on this car so you get to know everything about it and how it drives, handles and how different it is compared to any other Freeway.

This Freeway is a very special, unique and rare find. This Freeway would make a great addition to any car collection out there. This is a 1981, 16hp Freeway that was rebuilt in 2013 with lots of new parts. What makes this Freeway so special? I brought this Freeway to the 2014 Freeway reunion in MN that I organized. That morning one of the first people to arrive was Dave Edmonson. We talked for a bit and also decided that Dave should drive this Freeway in our road rally. Not only did Dave drive this Freeway but he was the lead car. Took us on a great drive that included a stop at his house. After the rally, when we returned to the reunion location,  I had Dave sign and date the dash of this Freeway that he drove. To add to the uniqueness of this Freeway I believe that it might be the only Freeway Dave has driven since HMV closed its doors back in 1982. This Freeway was recently run and driven. This took place on 8/7/2024. Comes with a clear title in the previous owner’s name. Mileage is just over 10k.  It has been in storage and even though it has been driven recently it is like all other Freeways. It will need a good once over to make sure all is well. I have done the basics (new oil, fresh gas, chain lubed, new battery and more).
